Opening Ceremony Launches Year of Mexico

Since opening its retail doors in 2002, each year, Opening Ceremony has provided a platform to highlight a group of fashion designers and creators from different countries. In the spirit of its namesake inspiration, the Olympics, founders Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have traveled extensively to discover up-and-coming designers, as well as established brands, that are native to a “host” country, introducing such talent to an international audience through its stores and content channels. Starting in June, Opening Ceremony launched its next country of focus for 2019-20: Mexico.

The Year of Mexico features a variety of designers and brands from the neighboring country that will be sold exclusively at Opening Ceremony. Several are also offering covetable pieces made exclusively for Opening Ceremony’s boutiques: hand-thrown homewares by Taiga Ceramica, locally-made cowboy boots sourced by Baby Angel Boots, exclusive bags by Agua D’Mar, custom jersey pieces by MyPalma, ready-to-wear and objects by Posadas, and more.
